Taking the time to clean your home involves planning and requires a lot of time. Fitting in cleaning in your busy schedule takes time away from other things, and is often something that gets pushed back until your home has to be cleaned. When doing a full house cleaning, there are often areas that are still missed as cleaning your home from top to bottom is a lot of hard work, and thus those areas are never cleaned. Doing a little bit of cleaning every day can really improve the overall cleanliness of your home, without it taking hours to complete. Below we have compiled a weekly checklist of areas to clean in your home, that will take 15 minutes or less to get done! If these areas are cleaned each day, it will make doing a larger clean much easier as well as doing it less often.
WEEKLY CLEANING
The checklist below offers different cleaning each day that is quick to finish and easy to keep up with. You can follow the guide exactly as we have it laid out or you can change it up depending on your home, your needs and your lifestyle. This is meant to be a guide to making house cleaning easier for you, so customize it as you see fit. Of course you will want to try and include important tasks such as vacuuming and dusting, however these don’t need to be done on the day we have specified, and can even be done once every two weeks depending on how well you keep up with other cleaning tasks.
THE CHECKLIST
Take a look at what we have suggested below, and then decide for yourself what is important and what can wait. This can take as long as you want, but the goal is to do a little bit of cleaning every day to avoid dirt and dust building up to the point where you have to do a full house cleaning.
MONDAY
Vacuum hallways, stairs and bedrooms
TUESDAY
Dust and wipe baseboards, spot clean walls
WEDNESDAY
Clean kitchen and bathroom countertops, sinks and toilets
THURSDAY
Mop tile and wood floors
FRIDAY
Dusting, wipe down surfaces
SATURDAY
Wash inside windows, window sills, and blinds
SUNDAY
Rest day!
AND YOUR FINISHED!
There you have it. An easy weekly checklist to keep your home clean and comfortable. There are other cleaning tasks that should be done on top of your weekly cleaning task, such as dishes, general tidying, and load(s) of laundry. There are also more heavy duty tasks such as cleaning the inside of the fridge, oven, cabinets and bathtub/shower that can be added on certain days, however these areas don’t need to be cleaned weekly. Customize this list for your personal lifestyle, and plan out for the month what needs to be done. It will be a lot easier to create a cleaning calendar so that when it is time to clean, all you have to do is reference what you have already written down! You will feel accomplished as well as having more free time overall with this method and you will be on your way to cleaner home!
